An Elegant Wedding at The Faulkner in Jackson, Mississippi

When Jennifer contacted me to be their Mississippi wedding photographer, I immediately fell in love with her sweet spirit and literally counted down the days till time for the big day. I had hung out with Jennifer, Brad, and the girls for an engagement/family session already, so I knew this would be a fun wedding! Needless to say, I was right. Jennifer and Brad’s elegant wedding at The Faulkner in Jackson, MS was a beautiful day, full of fun and pure joy.

Despite the weather forecast showing it was supposed to be rainy all day our prayers for sunny skies were answered! As luck would have it, the storm we kept anticipating went totally around us leaving us with incredible skies. From the top-notch vendor team, to their precious friends and family and sweetest sentimental details, every aspect of the day was absolutely perfect.

All the little details

I absolutely loved the sweet, personal touches added to their wedding. The ladies wore beautiful brooches on the backs of their dresses as a sweet nod to the bride’s grandmother. Not only did Jennifer do such a great job of weaving in personal sentiments in the details but also in the ceremony itself as well. The girls got ready in the beautiful bridal suite on The Fourth of the Faulkner, accompanied by the cutest four-legged friend, Lucy, who even had her tail dyed to match the wedding colors! Meanwhile, the boys were next door in the Boardroom watching the Ole Miss game until time for the first look in the stunning Drawing Room.

The Ceremony at The Faulkner

Jennifer and Brad opted for an elegant ceremony on The First at the Faulkner which features stunning herringbone flooring. The aisle had statement florals along the side on elegant pedestals. Additionally, instead of the traditional unity candle, Jennifer and Brad, along with their girls set fire to a ship to the tune of the song “Burn the Ships” by For King and Country. Yes, actual fire. I’m told this was quite the coordination to accomplish, but the staff at The Faulkner ensured this went off perfectly. This had such unique and touching symbolism as they blended their family together and left the “old” behind. What a great symbol as they start their lives together!

The Rooftop Reception

Afterward, we were able to spend some time with the new Mr. and Mrs. getting some amazing photos during golden hour on the roof of The Faulkner and in the streets of downtown Jackson. Finally, we were off to a wonderful rooftop reception overlooking the city. The view from the rooftop of The Faulkner is pure magic, especially under a bright moonlit sky. The band played some amazing tunes and it was a beautiful touch to have the cold sparklers go off during their first dance to the classic song, “Angel Eyes”.  (SO romantic!) Before we ended the night with the perfect sparkler sendoff, Jennifer changed into the cutest white bridal jumpsuit, a high ponytail and sparkly boots. It was the perfect outfit for her spunky personality.
